In Amsterdam

Oh! Can't post pictures from here...will do when we return home. Most fabulous place in Amsterdam: The Van Gogh Museum! Saw "The Colors of the Night"exhibit with "Starry Night"& "Starry Night on the Rhone"(that may be misspelled). We saw the show in NYC & now here, only two cities. How lucky is that! Van Gogh is my favorite artist. I have taught thousands of children about Van Gogh and his beautiful "Starry Night". It did not escape me how fortunate I was to be standing in the Van Gogh Museum, in Amsterdam, newly retired and gazing at that masterpiece.

I shopped at Sennelier

We went to one of the oldest art supply stores in Paris, dating back to 1887. Cezanne, Monet, and Picasso bought their paints at Sennelier's. It's near the Siene on Quai de Voltaire' It was a rainy morning today in Paris, but we were so excited to be in Sennelier!

We bought sketchbooks and a set of Sennelier watercolors.
Another Paris wish come true!

Irises

I'm so happy that it's May!

I love when the garden begins to bloom,

especially the irises!

I can remember loving irises as a little girl.

They are lovely to grow and tricky to paint!

I painted this one last year for my very dear friend!

A Very Tiny Indoor Garden

I'm inviting you in again! This time to my tiny conservatory.

This all-glass structure features beautiful arches and a vaulted ceiling.
(It's from Smith & Hawkins)

There's a magnificent black iron baker's rack to hold the tender bulb plants
and the geraniums.

An assortment of pots and urns hold hydrangeas and more geraniums.
Whoops! I left my rusty watering can there!

An orange tree in a stone planter...this building called also be an orangery,
used in Europe to winter the citrus trees.

A wicker plant stand in this corner and, of course, a little blue & white!
There's an orchid on a pedestal by the doorway.

It's always quiet and peaceful here.

The tiniest flowers just flourish.

The blossoms are well cared for and protected.

Wait...what was that?

Yikes! A giant cat!

A place to read

Cosmos

I'm attempting to do a Flickr group called "Every Day in May". It's posted here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/everydayinmay/
The idea is to paint every single day. I'm working on several paintings right now & none of those will be finished in a day. I'm a SLOW painter!
