It's very cold here today. This morning we woke to ice and snow on the ground.
Good thing that yesterday, my friend Linda & I went to Longwood Gardens.
It's cold & quiet there, too, but only on the outside.
Inside is the glorious Orchid Show.
Orchids in floating glass bubbles,
on standards,
on columns,
and placed all through the conservatory.
Beautiful primroses
and stock,
lilies
and tulips,
pansies and daffodils.
Hope it was just what you needed, too!
I can just imagine the wonderful smell inside the glass houses. I visited Longwood many times in the 70's - it set a standard for public or open-to-the public gardens for me. Thanks for sharing those lovely photos. Scrolling back up to look again.
ReplyDeleteJust exactly what I needed . . . We received another 5-6 inches of snow last night, (no complaints from me) along with the growing number on the ground already it certainly looks like winter.
ReplyDeleteI love a stop at the florist this time of the year to grab a bunch of tulips for the house. A weekly pick me up indeed until springtime.
Longwood looks lovely . . . Thanks for sharing.
These lovely colors are just what I needed to make my day.
ReplyDeleteWe used to live just 45 minutes away from Longwood Gardens and I sure do miss it. My friend and I went every January and February for a much needed pick me up! Your photos are beautiful!
